Black Market Activities is proud to announce we have signed the technical grind-metal band, Psyopus.
The band just completed the recording of their forthcoming debut full-length Ideas of Reference at
Watchmen Studios with engineer Doug White(Earth Crisis, Buried Alive, Kalibas). Hailing from
Rochester, NY Psyopus take some lessons from their local predecessor, Lethargy but then step things up to
an unparalleled and somewhat indescribable level. The band sounds like a combination of tech-metal,
video game music and over-the-top shred metal. Driven by amazing, circus-styled, guitar-wizardry,
machine-gun drumming and harsh vocals, engineer, Doug White might have said it best by comparing
Psyopus to "Burnt by the Sun on crack but with more classical guitar influence". Any further comparison
would probably be a great injustice to the band's unique style. Drummer Greg Herman was clocked at a
remarkable 225 bpm in the studio. Look for the disc to street in March 2003 and an mp3 from the new
album will be posted on the Black Market Activities site within the week. For those interested in booking
