Roy Horn Of 'Siegfried & Roy' Critical But Improving

LAS VEGAS -- Roy Horn, of Siegfried & Roy, remains in critical condition after being mauled in the neck by one of his own tigers.

But it could be days before doctors have a prognosis for him.

More details are emerging about what happened.

The attack occurred halfway through Friday night's performance at The Mirage hotel-casino. The tiger weighs about 600 pounds.

Horn told the tiger to lie down. When it refused, Horn tapped the cat on the nose with a microphone to get its attention. The animal grabbed at Horn's arm, causing the entertainer to stumble.

The tiger then lunged at Horn, who tried to beat the animal away with the microphone. It bit into the left side of Horn's neck and dragged him off stage by the neck. The attack barely missed severing Horn's carotid artery.

The stage crew used fire extinguishers to distract the tiger and free him. He was rushed to a hospital and went into surgery.

Horn's undergone several surgeries since Friday's attack.

Why do people think they can have wild animals as pets?

In an eerie coincidence, the latest issue of the Onion posted a story about Roy, two days before the attack.

While I don't think people should use these beautiful creatures as entertainment, at least this tiger wasn't kept in an appartment....with an ALLIGATOR!! Some people just amaze me..........

Dog bite, my ass!

Sad to say the bootleg market for Sigfried and Roy shows is not very demanding.

People should realize a wild animal is still a wild animal, even if it has been reared in captivity. It's in their blood, the call of the wild.

A fucking light must've errantly freaked it out or something, or maybe Roy didn't feed it the right flavor of Purina before the show?

Hi hypergrrl you are not going to believe this but I swear that it actually happened. Once, many years ago, my friend and I dropped by my friend's brother's freind's place and, get this was taken into the washroom where I was shown, much to my surprise and horror, a little baby crocodile living in the bathtub! It had to be only a few months old at the time and was only about two feet long but gosh, that was one solid little critter. None of us would dare to stick our hands next to the croc's head - it would have easily ripped the hand right off. Of course the owners' dog and cats were not aloud into the washroom; the croc could easily turn them into mincemeat! I don't know whatever happened to the critter but I sure felt sorry for it! Keeping a croc in a bathtub is no place for a critter like this to live. I'll always remember this meeting with the croc; it was very inspiring!

It would be a real "blood bath"! Of course the cat and croc would get in a hissing match first.

I went to the Florida Everglades where I heard a lady ask a park ranger if it would be okay it she touched a 7 ft. long alligator's tail. He told her not to but I was kinda hoping she would try it anyway. They're not so scary when they're sleeping in the sun but paddling by them in a flimsy canoe is pretty unnerving...

Reminds of one of the soldiers who survived the battle which was written about in the book 'Blackhawk Down'. He had his thumb shot off, so to grow back the necessary blood vessels etc, it was sewn into his stomach for a few weeks.

Rofl @ H. Bloody Tigger. Bounce bounce bounce CHOMP!
