I got exactly 65 spam emails over the weekend. For me this is a record.

You?

Could be the new virus that's lurking around out there. Think it's called Bugbear B. And it's even worse than the first Bugbear...

I got into work here at 7am (Monday), and since 3:45 pm on Friday, I had 223 messages in my inbox. 211 of these were spam. If I responded to half of the 'bigger penis' adverts I got, I could wrap my dong 10 times around the globe.

Apparently most of this stuff come sfrom just one scum-cunt in Florida. We should line up, all of us, on his route from his house to his work and stop him 8 million times offering things he doesn't want or need.

Then when he gets home tune his TV so it only picks up adverts.

Then cut is bollocks off with a pair of rusty bolt cutters. And make him eat them.

I realized that when you try to unsubscribe to one spam you just end up getting more, from probably the same person with a different address.

I HATE THEM

Yes, all that happens when you click on the unsubscribe link is verify to the Spammers that your e-mail address is active. I used to receive between 20-30 spams a day until I finally changed my e-mail address! What is the moral to my story? Don't turn off your firewall at a porno sight even if the the featured beauty has legs to kill for! Okay, maybe there are exceptions! But I highly recommend that everyone should use a good firewall and anti-virus program for their own protection. I use Norton Internet Security and also subscribe to their liveupdate service which features the latest worm, virus, etc. definitions. I also highly recommend that you go to a site like zdnet or download.com and download a copy of Ad-Aware and also Spybot. Unfortunately there also lurks on the internet alot of adware which, once is on your hardrive, keeps track of what type of sights you like to surf to and then reports back to the mother sight this information. Also I highly recommend that everyone keep a close eye on their credit cards - I have been hit twice now; my card has been charged for services which I did not subscribe for. Who did this to me? You are not going to believe this: AOL + UOL (Brazilian version)! I have succesfully challenged AOL on this - I was reimbursed the full amount and am in the process of going after UOL. As a result of this I have even obtained a new credt card number so that UOL can no longer keep charging me! Bastards! Killing is too good for them!

There is another measure I have found to be very effective against this cyber-scourge.

Try MailWasher. It kicks ass.
You can intercept your POP email before you even download it, like a preview of sorts.

ALL viruses are easily spotted BEFORE they even make it to your computer.
(they are usually over 100 kb)

You can then set up as many filters as it takes to prevent ever having to even SEE any of it.

And the best part is, you can then BOUNCE all of the spam bullshit back at 'em,
making it look to them like your email address is no longer functional.

The prog is easy as hell to install and use:
http://www.mailwasher.net/

Give it a try, I'm telling you.

(although I really like Emlyn's plan up above!)

That's a weird story, Indio.

UOL only provides access to the Interent and is not associated to AOL whatsoever.
UOL is the largest Internet provider in all Latin American and is owned by a huge group called Abril (which happens to own also MTV Brazil, Playboy magazine, etc...).

What did they charge you for??

Your guess is as good as mine! Please pardon my obvious incompetance when it comes to trying to understand Spanish. I did a web search for UOL UNIVERSO ON LINE SAO PAULO (This is the organization who charged me!)and then went to the website and could not make heads or tails of it. Whatever, I immediatly reported to Visa about these charges and they are now contesting them for me. I have actually been reimbursed for the initial charge though they still owe me almost $100.00 Canadian. Probably these charges were a result of an error made by someone who entered in the wrong numbers when registering with the site but one can not always be so sure. Just to be on the safe side, Visa recommended for me to obtain a new credit card number. On a related note, I have actually come across another naughty smut website which attempted to gain my credit card information but luckily was stopped by my firewall!
