Yeah, there's no possible way to sum up this band in only 3 songs. 3 ALBUMS, maybe. I just made a 90-minute compilation for a coworker who has been hearing the Newsted hype about Voivod and has had to listen to me tell him how great this damn band is and always was. There's no damn way I could sum up the band in 3 tracks, so I picked the following 15:Vol. 1 - The '80s 1. Nuclear War 2. Korgull the Exterminator 3. Killing Technology 4. Ravenous Medicine 5. Epilog... Macrosolutions to Megaproblems 6. Tribal Convictions 7. The Unknown Knows 8. Missing Sequences Vol. 2 - The '90s 1. The Prow 2. Clouds in my House 3. Jack Luminous 4. Insect 5. Nanoman 6. The Tower 7. Rise I figure with all of the variety covered here, SOMETHING is going to attract his attention.

Dudes,we are talking about a Metallica fan here (probably of the older albums as he is a thrasher). Fancy stuff out, aggressive and heavy stuff in. Catchy too. But of course something characteristic of the middle wave albums have to be included also. Therefore I would propose: 1) Ravenous Medicine from Killing Technology(catchy and thrashy) 2) Nothingface from ... (obligatory fancy stuff) 3) Bacteria from Phobos (heavy, weird, thrashy) Incidently those are also, I feel, Voivod's best albums.
