I love metal. Really, I do. Three years ago I ignored it and supressed the desire, long since gone from my teenage-dom. I liked no particular music, even though I'm a musician. Just didn't care.

But ever since I chanced upon 'Live Insurrection' by Halford, last year sometime, that old fire has returned!

And now I simply cannot get enough of it. If I'm not playing a metal album, I'm writing a metal song on my pointy guitar, or maybe asleep dreaming that I'm on-stage with Judas fuckin' Priest (only with no pants on, oddly enough).

So - if like me you've re-discovered the force, or maybe you never lost it but need reinvigorating - I want you all to do this:

-If you are at work stand on your chair
-If you at home (in a built-up area) open your window and lean out
-If you are at home (in the styx) phone up a stranger
-If you are in a cave with a party of tourists/potholers nearby, even better!
-If you are in a hospital or a cemetary
-Or at the movies during a really important bit of dialogue
-Near a group of small children/nuns
-Anywhere in Utah
-Sitting in a dentist chair undergoing root canal surgery
-Flicking between this site and a jizz-jar site, batting one off on the sly to some Spanish donkey-porn
-The only white guy in a Pool-hall full of angry, hot, drunk and dissafected Mexicans
-The only Mexican in the changing rooms of a WASP-only gym, and you've lost your locker key...

...then...

SCREAM YOUR FUCKING LUNGS OUT:

I LOVE METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!

Ok, I'm done now.

Ya know it's kinda funny because a lot of people used to tell me years ago that I won't be listening to metal when I get older, and it's just a stage I was going thru...BULLSHIT!!! I still listen to metal and I'm 36, and I'll listen to metal when I'm 86. I always ask the old people, that told me I wouldn't listen to it later in life, what they listen to, and they listen to the music they were into when they were in their teens and 20's. So why they hell wouldn't I still listen to the music I enjoyed during those same years when I get older.

Metal was a huge part of my life and even though I have broadened my listening tastes and don't get into all the bands I did back in the day, I still go nuts and still enjoy CRANKIN UP THE METAL and always will!!!

FUCK YEAH

Fucking right! Funny thing about it is that when I was 14 there was a whole load of us trying to grow our hair and doing nothing all day but listening to metal. Now all the others have cut thier hair, got respectable jobs and are listening to whitney fucking huston with thier wives. What the fuck is that all about? Were they all pretending to like metal back then? Did they all think they wouldn't get laid if they stayed metal?
My music is far to important to me to stop listening to it for ANY reason, and so I proudly join in with Emlyn's battle cry, atop my chair with my long greasy hair flapping in the wind and devils horns raised aloft!
METAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

And bollocks to anyone who doesn't like it.

Climbing up on desk... "I LOVE METAAAAAAAL!!!!!!" Looks around, everybody is staring at me, cool! Climb back down, log back on to Voivodfan.com

Ahh, thanks Emlyn! That was much needed!

Although my tastes have changed throughout the years, I found that to matter where my musical tastes wonder, METAL has always been a constant presence in my life (and stereo)! Still, IMHO, one of the most relevant sub-genres of rock to exist!

I too was told, repeatedly, that when I was older I would grow out of it. Never happened! People who deny their past are the ones who will have a mid-life crisis when they're 50!

BTW - Just bought tickets to see the Seattle leg of the Kreator, Destruction, & Celphalic Carnage show! Should be a night of quality METAL! I've heard Kreator's been seriously tearing shit up on this tour!

i'm way over here
i'm w/ you, brother

about 92, i took a detour into grateful dead land and listened to nothing but bootlegs for a while
i still bought my favorite metal bands disks (and tapes) as they came out: voivod, danzig, slayer, maiden
then about 96, i started listening to my metal tapes again
i didn't buy any new stuff until 98
(i didn't buy anything by a band that formed after 1990 until 2000: cof-midian)
but ever since then, it's been nothing but metal (almost)

it takes a certain type of person to be into metal, and we are they
that's the only reason i come here, to converse w/ my metal brethren

up the irons!

also, i once had a dream i was jamming in a church choir loft w/ maiden
they had 3 guitarists, but this was before the great reunion, when they actually became a 3 guitarist band
and, i didn't have a pick, so, i was playing the maiden songs w/ my thumb
i don't remember it being hard to do, but i do remember thinking "next time, i get a pick"
kinda weird
it did suck, not having a pick

A small treat for those who love metal!

A fellow Vodhead has asked me to repost the Union Made show I had up a little while back. So I offer it up here, one more time, for anyone that might have missed it before. In addition, Union Made's cover of Ave Maria can be found there too!

LINK

Full credit for the rippage goes out to the mighty SKULHED! If you still need it, grab it now 'cause it's only gonna be up for 24 to 48 hours and this link will disappear!

Excellent! Thanks X-D & Skulhed!
Muchas Gracias Amigos!

I once had a Dream that Rush were having a "Drummer Change"...in the middle of a Song!
I remember jumping-in and actually doing quite well! I think the song was 'Xanadu.'
Pretty weird dream.

Yeah, what's in a dream, eh? A few days ago beleive it or not I experienced a rather profound dream which Noitall appeared in! Don't worry Noitall, it was a nightmare and you put the fear of hell right into me!!! Getting back to the topic of this thread, sometimes - it usually happens a couple days after I partake in a serious alcohol intake binge - I experience some rather powerful alcohol withdrawal symptoms which causes me to start doing the chicken big time. This usally causes me to really wonder where the hell things are actually at with myself and sometimes I come to the conclusion that as far as rock or metal goes, where it is really at for me is to drink beer, grow my hair long, wear tight jeans and a leather jacket, and play some rather simple yet powerful AC-DC Back in Black type riffs. During these profound times, really primordial and heavy riffs - the type which causes you to crack your skull wide open - does the trick for me! I love my rock chopped! Chopped rock!

I live for Metal. I fuckin' mean it, Metal music is what fires up my blood and keeps me going. It's my obsession and my passion. Ever since I was 12 and heard Judas Priest doing The Hellion/Electric Eye on the radio I've been hooked. I listen to all kinds of Metal. Thrash, Black, Death, Traditional, Power, Goth, old school, etc. Just no rap shit. Some I like more than others of course, but it's all got it's place. Except rap shit. That's gotta go.
Metal is the greatest and most diverse form of music ever created. It's one of the only things that justifies our existnce on this chunk of dirt.
Metal rules, period. No questions asked.

Metal Meltdown

Something's calling
In the night
Electric madness
Roars in sight

Heat is rising
Blazing fast
Hot and evil
Feel the blast

Out of control
About to explode
It's coming at ya

Here comes the Metal Meltdown
Run for your lives
Can't stop the Metal Meltdown
No-one survives

Raging fury
Wired for sound
Nitro bombshell
Shakes the ground

High and mighty
Rips the air
Piercing lazer
Burning glaze

Out of control
About to explode
It's coming at ya

Here comes the Metal Meltdown
Run for your lives
Can't stop the Metal Meltdown
No-one survives

Temperature is boiling
Magnifying might
Feeding like a virus
Flashing light

Imminent collision
Shockwaves all around
Generating energy
Screams so loud

It's comin' - Meltdown
Start runnin' - Countdown

\m/

I had a dream last night that I was watching a band who had a japanese female drummer who played standing up! And she rocked! She was beating the hell out of this drum kit, and never missing a beat. I can clearly remember standing there and hardly touching my beer for the whole set cause I was too busy being gobsmaked! I have to find this woman! She needs to come and join my band!!
I dream every night without fail, and I love it. But it may well be linked to the booze, as El Indio suggests, cause I do like a tipple before bedtime!

X-D WROTE"BTW - Just bought tickets to see the Seattle leg of the Kreator, Destruction, & Celphalic Carnage show! Should be a night of quality METAL! I've heard Kreator's been seriously tearing shit up on this tour"

I don't know if you should go to this considering your age, you're married now, it's going to be loud, and people will probably be pushing and slamming, and you could get hurt... HAVE A DAMN GOOD TIME!!!

The UNION MADE is different than what I downloaded the first time! I previously got:
save the world
she's dead
caveman
lets do it
smash it up
getting used to darkness

THANKS fot putting these up.

DUH!!! Now I realize this is the live show it's early and I'm tired.

They told me that all this will pass away...
And for some aspect they were right because I don't have anymore long hair and I don't wear ripped jeans with draws on it (I still have the black leather jacket with draws, inside not outside);
But I still listen to that kind of music and I think that I'll never stop.
The metal fire is still consuming me
I'll never leave the morgoth lands...

Don't worry Noitall, you weren't wearing that wig though I'm sure it would have made my dream more interesting! Actually I experienced yet another one of my back to school nightmares where, despite the fact I have already went through school and graduated from grade 12, I find myself back in elementary school in grade 5 or 6! Here I am, I'm 35 years old and I find myself hanging out with a bunch of 10 and 11 year old kids because for some crazy reason I'm supposed to do the whole school thing again as a refresher! At least I'm acing the courses and annoying the hell out of my young classmates because heck, I've already been there before! Actually Noitall, in this latest dream I find myself and a bunch of other people arrive in a school bus at a certain central location where everyone is supposed to wait for another bus which takes them to highschool. So here I am, I just got off this bus and walk into this waiting area where I come across a fairly large group of people who - get this - are all standing around you. I guess this means that you are the Alpha Female Noitall for everyone seems to be revolving around you. Anyways upon witnessing this and also because I happen to be by myself on this occasion, I become extremly intimidated and anxious yet try to put on a very bold, fearless appearance and quickly and quietly walk by you and your crowd. I then find myself standng off by myself at a corner and looking back at this amazing Noitall lady and her entourage with a great amount of fear and awe on my part! Luckily I woke up shortly afterwords!

lmao Indio! I don't think I've ever had an entourage so thanks for dreaming one up for me. As Blacker than Blacky can probably attest to, I like being the lone wolf(ess?). On second thought don't ask him about his impressions of me, that may colour your opinion of me as a *cough* alpha female.

I loved Metal back in high school. Then I went through my grown up phase for about 10 years. Now, thanks to VV, I've regressed. Its been so much fun coming back to it all. The exhilarating rush of power is what I had missed the most. Like being crushed by an anvil.
