Has anyone seen it yet? I know it's a 'mockumentary' about two Calgary headbangers, sort of along the lines of 'American Movie' (which I loved), and I've read some good reviews.

Soundtrack info... seems like good summer fun to me.

quote:
VARIOUS ARTISTS Fubar OST (Aquarius /EMI)

All of those punk and pop-rock bands you thought wouldn’t touch the dated ‘80s rock with a ten-foot pole have all come together in an attempt to revive the lagging careers of the casino-circuit bands. From Sum 41’s cover of Helix’s "Rock You" to Breach Of Trust belting out "Eyes Of A Stranger," the Can-rockers develop true goat-throwin’ capabilities with the Fubar soundtrack. Highlighted by a few old school gems such as Girlschool’s Motorhead-ish "C’mon Let’s Go" and Sweet’s "Blockbuster," this album is a perfect mix of old glories and new battles for any self-respecting, pencil-moustached rocker. Sure, these groups don’t deliver the songs with the same testosterone, grab-my-balls-an’-holler venom of the originals, but the intent, the desire and most importantly the fun is all there, making each tune a silly treat. There are few bombs on the Fubar soundtrack, most acts delivering inspired performances that prove just how deeply they love their mullet-rock. In fact, the only truly disappointing moment is Sloan’s rather flaccid take on Rush’s groove-rock anthem "In The Mood." Delivering zero enthusiasm, they would seem more appropriate on some Perry Como tribute. After repeated listens this soundtrack might lose some of its sheen, but until then, ya just gotta give’r. Keith Carman

Damn no Britny Fox! ha, ha. I loved American Movie too. I need to watch that one again. I wonder how long it will take Fubar to make it to Georgia. 2010?? Actually its funny but there is a Movie Gallery which gets great obscure movies for some reason right off Tobacco Road. You know the same road that Erskine Caldwell wrote about in the novel of the same name.

Fickin' Gob doing a Kick Axe cover. Kick Axe ruled. They played at a high school all my buddies went to so I skipped and went to see them. Awesome! They were supposed to open for Priest on the Canadian leg of the Defenders Of The Faith tour, but for some reason Great White (ugh) got the slot.
A band I was in opened for Gob in Thunder Bay. This was before they became big. The bass player comes up to me and asks if I'm Don's brother (which I am) and I find out that they party together all the time! Small world.
I'm lookin' forward to seeing this movie.

I still haven't gotten around to seeing it, and probably won't untl at least next year. They've played some of the videos from the soundtrack on Loud like the Thor one. In fact the 2 guys from the movie hosted Loud in the summer! It was hilarious!

They had a special one off screening in London at the end of October. I couldn't make it, but a friend of mine went and said that they're gonna be releasing it over here in the new year. Then he added: "Turn down the suck, turn up the good"... Sounds like a good idea to me!
